Urban. Modern. Cool in Phoenix.

I’ve been house hunting for a new place to call home for the past month around Phoenix, AZ. Particularly, a sexy sky-rise condo with a view, modern architecture, and amenities that any savvy young entrepreneur can appreciate. My wish list includes a comfortable 1200 square feet or more of space, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, washer and dryer in unit, stainless steel appliances, tile flooring, granite countertops, large windows, more than enough of closet space, dense walls, and free wifi with a maid to top it off who loves to cook and clean.
So far, I’ve seen the Esplanade Place, Chateaux on Central, Landmark on Central, One Lexington, Optima Biltmore Towers, and the Biltmore Lofts.
The Landmark on Central was good from far, and far from good. I found the complex to lack sophistication and integrity with renovations that seemed to cut corners, rather than show pride and ownership. The Optima Biltmore Towers were unique in appearance from the outside, but lacked depth inside, with confusing floor plans that lacked a bit of sense to the purpose of sliding doors and balconies. I do enjoy the concept of roof pools and thought that was perhaps their best feature. The location of the Esplanade Place is the best in the valley. With the convenience to walk to a variety of restaurants, I’d never starve or risk a DUI. I thought the units were a bit too large for me, though. While I do enjoy having my space, I don’t require a lot of it since I don’t have any kids, roommates, or pets. The Chateaux on Central, Biltmore Lofts, and One Lexington, were among my favorites architecturally. The Chateaux had the most character, whereas, the views and amenities from One Lexington were the best. The Biltmore lofts were attractive mostly for being a smaller, more intimate complex with only 12 units. They also encompassed very large windows with industrial style concepts, but lacked a grand view of the city.
There are just a few more places I’d like to visit, so if you have any other suggestions or comments, I’d love to hear them
.

Fridge-A-Thon Exhibition
The show at the After Hours Gallery in Phoenix, features 15 recycled fridges painted and designed by valley artists. The project is sponsored by SRP to help spread the word about their appliance recycling program. If you have a spare freezer or fridge laying around, SRP, will pay you $30 to pick it up. Approximately 95% of the unit will be recycled and you’ll save about $100 a year, instead of running it on your bill. Stefan and I really enjoyed the lively and humorous art. My favorite was the lucha libre style wrestler…makes me want to paint my fridge!

LA GRANDE ORANGE
Or referred to as “LGO” for short was where I ate lunch on Thursday. Bringing my laptop as my date, I took advantage of their free Wi-Fi service to create some clever rap review, but hit a road block. NOTHING rhymes with “orange!” Sure, I could’ve came up with something more clever, but I found myself easily distracted with this new tidbit and had to share it!
Okay, okay…now back to LGO. I grabbed a fresh smoked salmon chopped salad ($8.25), which had bits of asparagus, sunflower seeds, couscous, tomatoes, craisens, and a side of champagne vinegerette dressing on a bed of romaine lettuce. Not being a fan of the dressing, I was more impressed with the generous amount of fresh smoked salmon, which was delivered at the right temperature mixed with the fun texture of couscous. Adding a bottle of water, it was the perfect and delicate lunch to balance the heavy, 98 degree weather. The portions at LGO don’t look large, but they always fill me up. Maybe it has to do with the backdrop of super attractive, earthy, trendy looking people in sunglasses, chic capris, yoga wear, and sandals that keep my appetite in check? Either way, LGO is a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner with their casual menu. I’m slowly becoming a fan of their pizza as I’m getting use to the taste of sourdough crust, but love, love, love their array of freshly baked pastries, muffins, cookies, cakes, etc. Many slices of heaven await my eager and grubby hands as I fog up the glass case, while admiring their perfection. The price points are a tad high, but considering they use fresh ingredients and bake in-house, it’s quite reasonable. When the weather is cooler, the patio is a great place to seat and catch up with friends. A lot of bikes are usually parked along the brick wall, adding a bit more flair and color to the place. The music is always on point with an eclectic mix of Jay-Z, Kings of Leon, indie pop, or electro-often making me want to bottle pop from their large selections of wine. Not only do they carry an array of vino from the floor to the ceiling, they also have a classic candy isle with modern day pricing, pet and kiddy goods and treats, a coffee bar (not a fan of it personally) and lots of other unique trinkets and gift items to browse through while you wait to order.
Which now brings me to the only 2 things I dislike about LGO: The California-like traffic in their parking lot and grocery store/restaurant/pizzeria/coffee bar and…that nasty coffee. If you come during rush hour, you should expect to fight for a parking spot or be cautious of someone backing out (hopefully, not into you), and those randoms (don’t assume they’re all Asian
) driving the wrong way. If you survive that, you’ll be entering into a mess of people browsing up at the menu, with those that are annoyed because they know what they want, with the “regulars” who are actually in “line” to order, to the people frozen in place looking at the pastries, in-between the “pick up” area where people are actually picking up their orders, standing next to those who are still waiting to pick up their order, while getting in the way of the people in line at the coffee bar who just want to order their damn coffee and OJ, and the rest are now just trying to grab their silverware and napkins to eat. Just remember to breath…and breath. Kundalini. Some how, some way, you do end up with a seat somewhere and actually enjoying your meal. Otherwise, come in at an off beat time where the place is yours for the taking
As for their coffee…have ordered it 3 different times and still hate it. They rank 2nd to Pita Jungle when it comes to the worse coffee I’ve ever ordered, which is too bad since the open air ambiance would perfectly compliment a great cup of Joe.

Spring Bling June 12th

Here’s the final flyer!
Can you find me? Rooms at the Hotel Theodore are almost sold out, but there are a ton of other nearby hotels if you plan on being sexy and safe by not drinking and driving. I’ll be there hanging out and hydrating myself with H2O
Women are in free with a bikini and heels (yes, we’re lucky), and Men $50/drinks covered, VIP pool area with hosted bar and rooms are still available at www.SweetsSpringBling.com. The pool event will be benefiting the ALS Association of Arizona-often referred to as the “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” it’s a progressive disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, then through the muscles and throughout the body. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost, often leaving the body paralyzed. To find out more about ALS, click here. Come and support the research of ALS, while having fun in the sun! See you there!

2010 Liquid Pool Party
Here are some of the pics from the 2010 Liquid Pool Party in Paradise Valley, AZ that I attended last weekend. I was a part of the bikini fashion show, which showcased sexy swimsuits from Sinfully Suited. The charity event helped raise funds to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis-an inherited disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to build up in the lungs and digestive tract. It’s also one of the most common chronic lung diseases in children and young adults, resulting in early death. 100% of the profits were donated to Cystic Fibrosis. It was a great pool party with an overwhelming attendance of people supporting its cause

‘Sex and the City’ & SKYY Vodka Promotion
Just finished a great night at Stingray Sushi in the Biltmore to promote the ‘Sex and the City’ movie premiere with SKYY Vodka. Lianne Miller and I passed out free samples of SKYY Vodka infused martinis, ‘Sex and the City’ scarves, and t-shirts to help promote. Can’t wait to see this movie! Your thoughts?

Spring Bling Photo Shoot in Scottsdale, AZ
It’s that time of year again-lots of pool parties and even more skin!
I just finished a long, but nice day modeling for the annual Spring Bling pool party in Scottsdale, AZ. This year, the event is taking place at the Hotel Theodore on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Women are in free with a bikini and heels men are $50.00. I know…it’s not fair being a guy sometimes
I’ll be posting more info once I get the flier and promo codes for tickets and room reservations. Should be a lot of fun-some of it topless from what I’ve heard, too…
Here are some pics of the day, which started with 7am call time on a Saturday. Geez!

Visit to Prescott Valley
Just came back from a 24-hour staycation in Prescott Valley where the rooms and liquor are cheap
What a charming town, where the dress code is comfort, people are friendly, and mom n’ pop’s the name. My BF and I decided to escape the 90 degree weather in Phoenix to an hour drive into Prescott where it was at least 10 degrees cooler. Never been before, I wanted to explore the little town and just get away from the city for a while. On the way, we stopped to eat at Rock Springs Cafe known for their famous pies. I was in heaven with their portion sized meals and rows and rows of baked pie-galore! Nothing beats a mid-western meal served by women who easily resemble your own Grandmother to start your getaway. Booked a room at the historic and haunted Vendome Hotel (just $129.00 for a room with free breakfast and coffee), enjoyed Prescott Valley’s best coffee shop, Cupper’s, which was conviently located next door from our hotel, downed a few brewsters at the Prescott Brewing Company, row boated at Lynx Lake, and ate, and ate. If you’re looking for a fun, cheap, and fast escape, venture to Prescott Valley-no need to bring heels, sandals will do just fine. Cupper’s Coffee review coming soon!

The Parlor Pizzeria
Catching up with my GF, Erica, we stopped in The Parlor. Hands down, it’s one of my favorite restaurants because their dough and pastas are made from scratch and price points and portions are fair. Simply stated, you can tell they take pride and care in their food and menu, which always includes freshly innovated soups and daily specials. I’m also a fan of their French press coffee-amazing! For my YELP review, click here!
When I’m dieting, I opt for the farm green’s salad with roasted chicken, tomatoes, pears, and spiced pecans for texture-delicious! Otherwise, I love to create my own pizza with just wild mushrooms, oregano, basil, and thyme. And yes, I’ve tried all of their featured pizzas

Tempe Salsa Festival
- :P
- My favorite!
- Muy Caliente!
Salsa mania for just $10.00 at the Tempe Beach Park Salsa Challenge!!!
I sampled over 30 different salsa vendors ranging from large restaurants, to store brands, and unique mom n’ pop recipes. This was my first year attending and I’m already looking forward to next year. To top it off, I was super stoked when I saw Blue Moon beer being served. Having recently discovered its flavor, I can now enjoy a few sips of beer (lightweight Asian). As for the salsa challenge, my favorite was the Shark Bite. Beer and salt = heaven.
